The names of the winners of the Tour of Flanders since 1973, the first time that the Tour of Flanders has passed through the Paddestraat, are engraved on the metal foot of the statue. 1973 was the first year that the participants of the Tour of Flanders rode on the cobblestones in the Paddestraat. Eddy Plackaert’s name, who won the Tour of flanders which arrives in Meerbeke in 1988, is not engraved on the statue because in 1988, the Paddestraat was cut out because of renovation work. The circle symbolizes the Tour of Flanders and the wheels and the cobblestone symbolizes the Paddestraat.
