The Flemish Ardennes

The unique nature of the Flemish Ardennes has been recognized by the Government of Flanders. Several areas have been designated as nature domains protected by law. The abundant nature is very inviting for amateur sport lovers. And, the hills of the Flemish Ardennes are strongly linked with the "Ronde van Vlaanderen" (Tour of Flanders), the greatest cycling event in Flanders.Tourists are discovering the beauty of the Flemish Ardennes. They are warmly welcomed by the hotels in local towns, by Bed & Breakfast on the countryside, by campings, youth hostels and group lodgings, and, increasingly popular, by farm lodgings

Oudenaarde:Today, they call this city ‘pearl of the Flemish Ardennes’. And we must give them right, cause the sparkling centre and the small villages at the edge of the city are the perfect combination.

Zottegem: Zottegem lies at the foot of the sloping Flemish Ardennes, which is symbolized by a fine statue in the town centre. The Gate of the Flemish Ardennes offers great possibilities for the nature-lover and the more active tourist.

Geraardsbergen: When you say Geraardsbergen, you say ‘mattentaart’. This delicious sort of pie is typical for this city. But there is a lot more to discover.

Ronse: You will be surprised when you see that there’s a lot to discover in Ronse. You will be astonished when you’re standing in front of the most beautiful country house of Victor Horta. Not in Brussels but here, in Ronse. Or when you see the oldest station of Europe, also here in Ronse.
